Featured Artist: Clothing Designer Selma Karaca Brings Her Artistic Line to Vintage Mirage

Friday, March 15, 2013

Elinor Coleman’s Vintage Mirage is pleased to present Selma Karaca as this month’s Featured Artist. An award-winning Turkish designer currently based in New York City, Ms. Karaca is best known for creating multi level constructed garments that are artistic, elegant and comfortable. Using banded fabrics such as rope, opaque, shimmer, transparent and see through lace that are combined and stitched diagonally and horizontally, her pieces are reminiscent of a topographical view of countryside terrain. This signature style of clothing includes dresses, tunics, skirts and vests. In 2011, jazz artist Esperanza Spalding wore one of Ms. Karaca’s oufits to accept the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

On Saturday, March 23, from noon to 6 p.m., Selma Karaca will be at Vintage Mirage to meet customers and present her Spring 2013 Trunk Show. Vintage Mirage is the exclusive Northern Virginia representative offering Ms. Karaca’s handmade, one of a kind fashions.

Elinor Coleman’s Vintage Mirage offers the finest in designer consignment and vintage clothing, accessories and jewelry, much of it handcrafted. The full spectrum of designer fashions is available from Today’s Contemporary era designers to the Victorian era (1860) in the Old Town Alexandria store and on the website.
